The final day of competition was a true test for the USA Team. The coach Cody Cox and four players including Cameron became sick the night before the final round of play and still managed to keep the lead and win the cup for the USA Team. Coach Cox was very proud of the team and how they played through their sickness.

The windy and overcast conditions at the difficult Traditions course challenged these elite junior golfers but it did not keep the college coaches away with a minimum of twelve college coaches being seen in attendance at this nationally ranked event. The boys were playing just over 7000 yards. Cameron hit the ball very well....just didn't score well. The tournament had 85 top junior golfers in the field from all over the country!

9th Place - Cameron played the first round of play without a chance of playing a practice round. This course is very tough to try and play a tournament without ever getting a chance to see the course. Cameron played much better the second day with a very nice round of golf to finish the tournament.
The TJGT Texas Team Won the Cup by some very impressive performances on Sunday to clinch the Red River Challenge being played at the historic Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, Oklahoma. This Perry Maxwell designed golf course is also the home of the Maxwell Collegiate, the premier college event in the region. This golf course only measures 6,553 yards from the back tees but the small, lightning fast elevated bent greens and narrow, tree-lined fairways make this course one of the most challenging tracks any golfer could play.

WD - Cameron had to withdraw from The Byron Nelson Junior Championship after the 4th hole of play in the first round because of a stomach virus. Cameron was 1 over par after 4 holes of play and just couldn't keep going. He was sick all night long the night before the start of the tournament. He tried to play because this tournament is one of the most prestigious junior golf tournaments in the country and was very important for him. Cameron was just to sick to continue. Cameron's younger brother Carson was sick with a stomach virus two days earlier.

3rd Place - Cameron struggled last year on this course with the greens....He had 10 putts inside of 10' the 2nd round of play and didn't make a single putt...He just couldn't buy a putt at all. He just has a terrible time reading the greens for some reason...The ole saying is horses for courses? The greens are very very slow and in terrible condition. The ball would just bounce all the way to the hole instead of rolling to the hole. A terrible golf course for the UIL to have host the high school regional golf tournament. |

Cameron was in 17th place after the 1st round of play out of 112 golfers...
His driver screws and weights came out of his club in the 1st round on the back 9 and it cost him a very good round.....The driver ( Calloway )came apart on the very bottom of the club and it's only 2 months old...Not having his driver the second round of play made it very tough. It's tough golfing conditions when a great player like Sang Yi from the Dallas area fires a 75 - 81 for both days. Sang Yi is going to LSU. The course was very wet and played very very long.

Cameron struggled with his driver the first day....scoring a 82 with 5 balls being hit out of bounds. The second day Cameron hit the ball great, but just didn't make many putts....his score was a 76 - The tournament had 118 top rank junior golfers.
After the first round we went to a golf shop and had a new shaft installed in his driver.... Since Cameron started working out, losing weight and lifting weights he has grown out of his shaft in his driver...With the new shaft Cameron seemed to have much better control with the driver. It's always a battle with shafts and clubs when a kid is in a growing mode. Cameron is also hitting his clubs much farther these days and having trouble with his distances. |

46th place - Cameron played the first 8 holes in even par... the rain came and they had a 1:30 minute delay.... They sent them back on the course in the rain and very windy conditions and he really struggled....All of the players that had to play in the morning session had to play the last 9 holes in a rain storm and the scores showed it.. The afternoon session played in clear skies and perfect conditions.... The scores came in much better for the afternoon players. The 4A Texas State champion from Dallas Highland Park that is going to play for Georgia Tech this year fired a 79. The 3A State champion from Palestine that is going to play at Odessa fired a 78.
